Oliver Sacks: My Periodic Table – The New York Times

Can math and science provide a source of stability in the face of loss, in the face of our own death?  Here is a farewell to Oliver Sacks, for his love of science:

As death nears, I am surrounding myself, as I did when I was a boy, with metals and minerals, little emblems of eternity.
